Abstract:
The paper presents a theoretical review of various innovative AI-based teaching methods for two elementary school subjects – Technology education, and Computer science. Based on the analysis of valid learning theories, seven AI-managed educational modalities were proposed: transferable digital competences, virtual laboratories, virtual and augmented reality environments, serious games, intelligent programming code feedback systems, pair programming, and AI-generated coding challenges. Each method is observed through the existing learning theory lens. The review demonstrated that AImediated personalized learning, adaptive feedback, and learning analytics can be operationalized via the three-phase cyclic model of self-regulated learning across all examined modalities, by which students gain both domain-specific and transversal competences. Future research directions are proposed, encompassing the development of psychometrically validated assessment instruments and the further investigation of ethical dimensions of AI deployment in Serbian primary education.
